The Making of

Tadas Maksimovas created the Peace Flag project in collaboration with American artist Aaron Fein and Singaporean creative Darren Abriel. The project's goal was to encourage embassies across London to raise a colorless flag, taking just over two years of negotiations.

We wrote 193 letters to each international embassy in the United Kingdom. We physically visited them, requesting they raise a colorless version of their flag on the International Day of Peace, September 21st.

The Peace Walk

We organized the Peace Walk in which members of the public were invited to march through the city of London with Peace Flags representing the countries of the world. The Peace Walk set off from Hyde Park Corner and made its way through Knightsbridge to Buckingham Palace, culminating in a fantastic display of flags in Trafalgar Square.

As a result, the embassies of Colombia, Equatorial Guinea, and Ecuador in London officially agreed to support the Peace Flag by raising a colorless version of their national flags on the International Day of Peace.
